Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SpeedySep Inc. (“SpeedySep”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and otherwise processes personal information in connection with the Daily Modern Pets website at dailymodernpets.com, its country and language editions, our social media pages, and any related emails or communications (together, the “Services”).

Please read this policy together with our Cookie Policy and our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.

1. Who is responsible for your information

SpeedySep Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Florida, USA, is the business responsible for your personal information. For people in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and the United Kingdom (“UK”), SpeedySep is the “controller” of your personal data.

You can contact us about privacy at team@dailymodernpets.com or by post at the address above, marked “Attn: Privacy”.

2. Summary

  • Daily Modern Pets is a free online magazine. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, address or payment details to read it.
  • We collect technical information about your device and visit, and, where the law allows or you agree, we and our advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as the Meta Pixel) to measure and improve advertising.
  • In the UK and the EEA, advertising technologies only run if you accept them.
  • In the United States, our use of advertising technologies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or “targeted advertising”, under some state laws. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal.
  • Some stories are sponsored by brands. When you click a link to a brand’s store, that brand’s own privacy policy applies to what happens there.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect:

  • Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, language settings, and approximate location derived from your IP address (country, region or city level; never precise GPS location).
  • Usage data: the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, how long you stay, how far you scroll, the links you click (including links to stores of brands featured on the Services), the page or advertisement that referred you, and similar interaction data.
  • Identifiers from cookies and similar technologies: cookie IDs, pixel and browser identifiers, advertising click identifiers (such as Meta’s “fbclid”, TikTok’s “ttclid” and Google’s “gclid”) and campaign parameters (such as “utm_” tags) contained in the web address you used to reach us.
  • Your privacy choices: whether you accepted or rejected cookies, opted out of sale/sharing, or sent a Global Privacy Control signal. We store your choice in your own browser.

3.2 Information you give us

If you contact us by email, enter a promotion, respond to a survey, sign up for a newsletter (if offered), send us a story, photo or comment, or exercise your privacy rights, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, the content of your message, and any photos or other materials you submit.

3.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information from:

  • Advertising and social media platforms (such as Meta Platforms, Inc. and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited): reports about the performance of our advertisements and, where applicable, information about how people who saw our ads interacted with the Services. These reports are generally aggregated.
  • Brands featured on the Services: aggregated or de-identified information about whether readers who clicked through from our stories went on to visit or buy, so that we can measure the performance of sponsored content.
  • Social media pages: if you interact with our Facebook or Instagram pages, we receive the information those platforms make available to page owners, such as aggregated page statistics and any comments or messages you send us.

3.4 Sensitive information

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health, financial or government ID information, or precise geolocation). Please do not send us such information. Information about your pet is not, in itself, sensitive personal information about you.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  1. Provide and operate the Services, including delivering pages, remembering your country, language and privacy choices, and keeping the site secure and working.
  2. Measure, analyze and improve our content, design and performance, and understand which stories readers find useful.
  3. Advertise the Services and measure advertising, including measuring the results of our ads on social media and other platforms, building audiences and limiting how often you see the same ad, and showing you relevant ads for Daily Modern Pets and for brands featured on the Services, where permitted by law and your choices.
  4. Measure sponsored content, including reporting to brands, in aggregated or de-identified form, how readers engaged with their sponsored stories.
  5. Communicate with you, including responding to your messages and requests and, if you sign up, sending newsletters.
  6. Protect the Services and others, including detecting, investigating and preventing fraud, abuse, security incidents, bot traffic and violations of our Terms of Use.
  7. Comply with law and enforce our rights, including responding to lawful requests, keeping records of your privacy choices, and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.
  8. Carry out business transactions, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of all or part of our business or assets.

We may also create aggregated, anonymized or de-identified information that does not identify you, and use it for any lawful purpose. Where we maintain de-identified information, we will not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law.

If you are in the UK or the EEA, we rely on the following legal bases:

Purpose Legal basis
Delivering pages, security, preventing abuse, server logs Our legitimate interests in operating a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR / UK GDPR)
Advertising cookies and pixels, including the Meta Pixel Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR / UK GDPR, and the ePrivacy rules / PECR). You can withdraw consent at any time under “Cookie settings”.
Remembering your cookie choice Legal obligation to record consent and our legitimate interests; the storage is strictly necessary
Responding to messages and requests Our legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request
Newsletters (if offered) Your consent
Complying with law, keeping records, legal claims Legal obligation and our legitimate interests

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced those interests against your rights. You can object at any time (see Section 10).

6. Cookies, pixels and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary storage to make the site work and remember your choices. With your consent (UK/EEA), or subject to your right to opt out (United States), we and our advertising partners also use advertising technologies, in particular the Meta Pixel provided by Meta. These technologies may collect information about your activity on the Services and across other websites and apps over time.

For the Meta Pixel, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (for the UK/EEA) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (elsewhere) receive information directly from your browser. To the extent we jointly determine with Meta the purposes and means of collecting and transmitting this data, we are joint controllers for that collection and transmission only; Meta is solely responsible for its own subsequent processing. You can learn more in Meta’s Privacy Policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy and manage ad preferences in your Meta account settings.

Full details, including a list of the technologies and how long they last, are in our Cookie Policy.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. We treat a Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising for that browser, and we do not load advertising technologies when we detect it. There is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not respond to them separately, but GPC covers the same choice.

7. How we disclose information

We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers and processors who perform services for us under contract, such as website hosting and content delivery (Google LLC, through Firebase Hosting), email hosting, IT and security services, and professional advisers. They may only use the information to provide services to us.
  • Advertising and social media partners, such as Meta, when advertising technologies are active under your choices. These partners may use the information for their own purposes in accordance with their own privacy policies, including to improve their advertising products.
  • Brands featured on the Services. When you click a link in a sponsored story or other story to a brand’s online store, your browser goes to that brand’s website and the web address includes campaign parameters (for example “utm_source=dailymodernpets”) and, if present, the advertising click identifier you arrived with. The brand then processes information about your visit under its own privacy policy. We may also share aggregated or de-identified performance information with brands.
  • Affiliates, meaning companies under common ownership or control with SpeedySep, for the purposes described in this policy.
  • Authorities and others for legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order or other legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of SpeedySep, our readers, brands featured on the Services, or others, or to enforce our Terms of Use.
  • Parties to business transactions, such as a buyer, investor or successor, as part of an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of assets. Any successor will be bound by this policy for information it receives, unless you are notified otherwise.
  • Others with your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, our use of advertising technologies as described above may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or processing for “targeted advertising”, under some U.S. state laws. See Section 11.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law:

  • Cookie and privacy choices stored in your browser: until you clear them or change your choice. Records of consent we keep may be retained for up to 3 years.
  • Hosting and security logs: typically up to 12 months, in line with our hosting provider’s retention practices.
  • Advertising technology data: as set by the relevant partner; Meta Pixel cookies typically last up to 90 days (see the Cookie Policy). Data held by Meta is retained under Meta’s own policies.
  • Correspondence and requests: up to 3 years after our last contact, or longer if needed to handle a dispute or legal claim.
  • Newsletter data (if offered): until you unsubscribe, plus a short period to record the opt-out.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

9. International transfers

SpeedySep is based in the United States, and our service providers and partners may process information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

When we transfer personal data from the UK or the EEA to countries that do not have an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or the recipient’s certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, or on another lawful transfer mechanism. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards using the contact details in Section 1.

10. Your rights in the UK and the EEA

If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and receive a copy of it;
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Erase your data in certain circumstances;
  • Restrict our processing in certain circumstances;
  • Data portability, meaning to receive data you provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format, and have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible;
  • Object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests, and at any time to processing for direct marketing, including profiling related to it;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You can withdraw cookie consent under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page;
  • Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not make such decisions.

To exercise these rights, email team@dailymodernpets.com. We will respond within one month, which may be extended by two further months for complex requests. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work or where an alleged infringement took place. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

11. Your rights in the United States

Depending on the state where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia), and subject to the thresholds and exceptions in those laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know and access the personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of information, sources, purposes and recipients, and to receive a copy in a portable format;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information we collected from you;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising (also called cross-context behavioral advertising) and certain profiling;
  • Obtain a list of specific third parties to which we disclosed personal information, where your state law provides this right;
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights; and
  • Appeal our decision on your request.

How to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising: visit Your Privacy Choices, click “Opt out of sharing” on our notice, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. Opt-outs made through our website apply to the browser and device you use, because we do not otherwise know who you are. You can also limit ad tracking in your Meta account and device settings.

How to submit other requests: email team@dailymodernpets.com with the subject line “Privacy Request”, and tell us your state of residence and what you are asking for. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, which may be extended by another 45 days where permitted. We will verify your request by matching information you provide with information we hold. Because we generally do not know readers’ identities, we may not be able to link browsing data to you; in that case we will explain why.

Authorized agents: you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and may ask you to verify your identity directly.

Appeals: if we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal”. We will respond within the time required by your state’s law. If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state Attorney General.

12. Children

The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (in the United States) or under 16 (in the UK and the EEA). If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Security
